Hi, lovely readers! The blog, "I am Shelfless" was made by a passionate reader who is perennially shelf-less ever since she became in love with stories through books.

Book Review: Breaking My Heart by Aleya Michelle

Breaking My Heart - Aleya Michelle

I won a copy of this book from a giveaway hosted by the author.

I just re-read the book today because I couldn’t remember much of what happened when I first read this book, but I rated it. In other words, it’s like reading the book the first time today. Is this a good sign or a bad sign? Honestly speaking, I really don’t know. :(

‘Breaking My Heart’ is set on Australia written by an Australian author. It is pretty amazing that the author wrote some of their local words. It was a bit challenging for me because I had to check out some words, but hey it’s cool! I learned new words! :D

There’s something else. You see, I am easily drawn just by reading synopsis of books. Because of that, I really have high expectations and I always expect more. Well, this time let’s just say this book is an okay read.

I was having a bit of a problem when I was reading this book because I didn’t know how to connect to its characters and to its words. It’s like water with no currents. The author’s writing style doesn’t pull me in.

Also, the book is written in Roxy’s POV and some of it is in Kade’s POV. I thought reading through their perspectives will enrich the story and even enlighten me, but I felt that I was just reading the same thing again. With that said, I might have skimmed a bit. And, did I mention the excessive use of the word baby whenever they interact with each other? :|

Roxy and Kade’s chemistry is high. They really can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other. If you like sexy and steamy scenes, I can tell you that it was hot. ;)

I recommend this book to people who are a fan of lovey-dovey, ‘I love you so much, baby’ ‘you are amazing’ ‘you mean everything to me’ relationship! I hope this book will do well with you. :D

Although, I didn’t enjoy this book like I thought. I am still willing to give this book a chance (and I do hope I am making the right decision). I look forward to reading the next book!
